Expectations

What do you want to achieve from the instructional technology graduate program?

When I am asked why I am pursuing this degree or attending the courses such as IT 755, I have two sides to my answer: professional and personal.

Professionally, I want to understand the tools that are available to enhance my students' learning, my lessons, and my understanding of technology and how it works. As an educator I want to be able to be the best that I can for my students because they deserve the best. I have always tried to incorporate technology into the classroom to create an engaging environment; however, this course along with my other classes in the program have given me so much insight into the characteristics of website building, administration involvement, and the characteristics students and teachers of distance learning need to hold in order to have a successful classroom climate. All of these elements I can take back to the traditional classroom or to my own distance education course.

Personally, I am enrolled in this program for several reasons. Thinking long-term, if I am able to have a family one day long down the line, this program gives me the flexibility I would need to be at home with my children while still persuing my passion of an educator. Short term, I am still in limbo. I am in the transition period of leaving my college town and trying to find a place of my own to create as my home. This masters program will give me more opportunities for jobs wherever that city or town may be for me.
