Professional Experiences

Throughout my Teacher Education Program at the University of Alabama (last two years of undergraduate degree 2014-2016), I was blessed with the opportunity of so many practicum experiences. From music and physical education teaching internships to pre-kindergarten through sixth grade internships in all subject areas I was well prepared for the teaching field.
In addition, three summer (2014,2016, and 2017) I worked for the non-profit, Montgomery Education Foundation for their summer learning program, Brain Forest, which helps students in the Title I schools of Montgomery Public Schools prevent summer learning loss.
After obtaining my BS in Education, I was hired as a first grade teacher in Montgomery Public Schools; however, a month into the school year a fourth fifth grade unit for English Language Arts and Reading was needed, so I offered to move to help my school. I also coached the third through fifth grade girls dance team, which was such a wonderful opportunity to create a bond with students in classes and grades other than my own.
Personal & Career Aspirations
When I create a goal for myself I find a way to get there and achieve it. I also believe everything happens for a reason and find it so interesting to see how life evolves from different experiences.
I had found my dream job that I interviewed for in the spring of 2017. To be eligible for the position I needed a masters degree, so I researched different studies. The position I applied for ended up not being available anymore, but I was still determined to obtain my masters for the possibility of the job being open the next year.
One morning, the University of Southern Mississippi emailed me a link about their instructional technology masters program through my work email. I looked into it, and it was perfect for me. I right away got signed up for for the GMAT, obtained recommendations, and the other paperwork needed. Once I was accepted, I started thinking about if I would be a full time student or part time and continue work as a teacher.
Then one morning I decided this is the year I am going to Europe. I signed up on an au pair website, and found a family I clicked with within 24 hours. We Facetimed and discussed questions for the next week and a half then began the paperwork and September 1st I was off to The Netherlands for the year while completing my masters full time. I am so thankful for this opportunity, which allows me to live out one of my dreams while completing my masters in a year.
When I return to the States, I see myself either at a high, middle, or elementary school as an instructional technology leader to assist teachers with resources to better their students learning. I would also like to manage a class or club for students interested in technology as well as continue working for the non-profit I've been with for multiple summers improving their technology in the classroom. Where I want to reside permanently has not yet settled with me but wherever that may be my dream is to have a Tudor style house with a wood paneled library wit books filling wall to wall and a golden retriever.
