My name is Amber Ledford, and I am just beginning my instructional technology master's degree. I graduated in May 2016 from the University of Alabama as an early childhood and elementary education major. I spent the last year completing my first teaching job as a fifth grade reading and English language arts teacher and dance coach in Montgomery, Alabama.
My hobbies include cooking, reading, and recently since completing my final teaching internship in New Zealand I have picked up the travel bug. So I will be moving to the Netherlands the first of September to participate in a cultural exchange by living with a family, learning their language, and taking care of their two boys a few hours a week.
I am so excited for this opportunity because it allows me to learn someone else's culture and allows me to be a full time student with my masters, which I could not do if I was teaching full time. I will be emotional to leave my family and friends for at least 10 months to a year, but I am looking forward to gaining a family away from home and many new friends. I am an only child to two loving and supporting parents, so I am also excited to live with a family with two little boys who can become like little brothers to me. I have always been interested and good with technology, so I am thrilled to be in this course and graduate program to enhance my knowledge.
